At McKenna House, our students are 18 years of age and older. Applicants may be starting college, getting ready for college, finishing a semester or two of high school, or moving out on their own. This should be an exciting time for young adults and we are here to assist with the success of the transition into a life of independence. Together, we will build a foundation of self-confidence and self-reliance to help students successfully navigate through life.

We review each applicant carefully in order to ensure a good match. An applicant must be 18 years of age or older at the time of enrollment and choosing to become a part of the McKenna House community. Every student has an individualized “living” plan designed just for them!

As McKenna House has a rolling enrollment process, interested applicants may apply at any time of the year. We do encourage early application to assist with a smooth transition and to secure an applicant’s space.

How to apply:

  • Scheduling the interview:  Schedule a Skype interview by contacting the Admissions Dept. Applicants are also welcome to interview in person by contacting the Admissions Dept.
  • Downloading and submitting the application. Once the interview has taken place, you may download the application form and submit it via e-mail, fax or mail.
  • Requesting high school transcripts: If completing high school while at McKenna House, request your high school transcripts be sent to the McKenna House Admissions Office.
  • Requesting college transcripts: If already in college, request both your final high school transcripts and any college transcripts be sent to the McKenna House Admissions Office.

It is important to schedule the interview as early as possible. It is an essential part of the McKenna House admissions process and gives all of us an opportunity to get to know each other better and determine if we’re a good fit! We prefer an in-person or Skype interview, but there are times when those options may not be possible.  In such cases, we will schedule a phone call instead.

Once the interview has taken place, the next step is completing and submitting the application. It is advised to do this as soon as possible, as applications are reviewed upon receipt. The application is an important step in the process, as it tells us a lot about you, your passions, strengths, interests and goals. Spaces fill quickly, so please don’t delay too long! You may download a copy of the application or request one e-mailed to you.

If applying for any high school, college, vocational, or extra-curricular courses and classes, it is important to know the deadlines for the particular institution or program you will be taking the courses from. Contact the Admissions Office to discuss this in further detail.

McKenna House prides itself in the diversity of its students and does not discriminate. For questions about the admissions process or requirements, please contact Michelle McKenna, Director of Admissions or Dawn Bristol.
